The
Market Place is at the historic heart of this market town which lies
within the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. The area lacks investment
and requires appropriate physical intervention to stimulate a programme
of sustainable regeneration.
Working with Allen Tod Architects, Peter White directed
the consultation, demand and needs studies and was responsible for
identifying gaps in existing provision that had the capability of
triggering appropriate private sector investment. The team has been
retained subsequently to help put together a deliverable package of
measures that will achieve the scheme that was proposed: a community
arts centre together with a mixed use development including creative
workspaces and apartments.
