King’s
Cross Construction Skills Training Centre – Fit out Contract
Late in 2008, The London Borough of Camden commissioned Fresh Life
Consulting to specify, source equipment and furniture and project manage
the fit out of their new state of the art training centre in King’s
Cross which they have developed with Argent and are delivering in
partnership with Carillion Training.
This involved detailed programming and co-ordination of specialist
suppliers and contractors and the transfer of the existing operation
from nearby premises to tight deadlines. All of this was successfully
completed and the client established in the new premises in time for the
official opening in March 2009.
Key
lessons learnt by this project:

Thorough, realistic planning

Developing a good working relationship with the
developer/landlord

Never underestimating the time it takes for the
utilities to deliver

Testing suitable furniture as much as possible before
ordering to check it stands up to its billing

Knowing when to
involve the client and when to protect them from the plethora of
detail that has go be worked through to ensure a satisfactory
outcome
