The
Goldsmiths Centre, Clerkenwell
For
The Goldsmiths’ Company London 2005- 2009
Since
2005, Peter White has worked closely with the Goldsmiths’ Company
Director of Technology and Training, providing project feasibility,
market research into managed workspace conference/ meetings demand and
catering provision, financial appraisal including capital and 5 year
profit and loss forecasting advice.
The £15m proposal for
the Goldsmiths’ Centre was approved by the Company and a world class,
state of the art centre, consisting of training space, managed and
commercial workspace, meeting and eating facilities are now being built
at this location, through the conversion of a Grade II former Victorian
School together with purpose built accommodation adjoining, around a new
atrium. The complex is due to open in the Spring of 2011.
Key lessons demonstrated by and learnt from this project:
-
Obtaining specialist advice at an early stage saves time and money
in the long run. The converse is also true
-
The
value of a running “a Day in the Life of” with all the design and
project team participating is invaluable
-
Good, regular reporting to Trustees is vital to ensure that the
decision-makers remain on board
-
The
crucial importance of an inspirational project champion within the
client body.
